I have placed a few pics of Chapel hill's (to my knowledge) only mine hole entry, hopefully to prompt somebody to have a recky and investigate the rumoured (linked workings)
As can be seen from my photo the workings are flooded with deep water but when I last looked see to extend ( as far as the torch can shine) in the direction of Scout Quarry at Waterfoot

Cheers bwizz, we hope to be up there soon again. Heartening to see that it isn't sealed off like some others up there.

I guess the water keeps most out, but you always get dry again don't you. I've heard that the farmer isn't (understandably) too keen on people poking around.

Having had a look from the other end I think a through connection is perfectly possible, just depends how long you can spend looking for it.

Thanks for the pics.

I have looked at this entrance on every trip to Lancs at all times of year and even when I lived in the area I have never known it to dry out to welly depth. Farmer in question is not in the nearest building to the workings ! The farm directly behind the quarry may have some information as to how aproachable the landowner may be . When I lived in the area Not!

Disclaimer: Mine exploring can be quite dangerous, but then again it can be alright, it all depends on the weather. Please read the proper disclaimer.
