Remember the night we called in there after being underground in Cwm or somewhere.....a Thursday night around half eleven.....we went in for half a mild and a bag of crisps and it was like the wild west in there, everyone p1$$3d and falling all over the place.... they were selling everything as "buy one, get one free". Beer, spirits, the lot.

Girl behind the bar said "We're closing down."

I asked "When are you closing?"

She waved her arms over the pumps and the optics and said "When all this f***ing lot is gone!! PARTY ON !!"

True that.

I went clean through a stud wall at 5 years old, and ruined a very expensive and well attended 21st birthday party in the process. Still have the scar from that.

I also got pushed through an industrial roller-shutter as a teenager by someone driving a forklift truck at me.

In truth I've only ever been thrown through one actual window and it wasn't in a pub.

I'm way past all that silliness now, I break too easily these days.

Long long ago I remember the Queens when the landlord used to breed dogs in the cellar - and it was a hotel too at the time - me and my dad stayed there a couple of times when I first was starting my "work" on Oakeley. It was a long wet walk up the miners steps to Gloddfa Ganol to measure up the electric motor.... and down again, took ages to dry out my duffle coat and the blue came out of it on to the floor... oh dear reminiscing again! :-[

There's a well-known fella who drinks in the Iorwerth Arms who actually went through the primary crusher at Bwlch y Gwynt quarry and lived to tell the tale. 😮 Apparently it spit him out in one piece but with all his limbs pointing in the wrong direction and his head rotated by almost 180 degrees.

I also knew a Scotsman (a miner as it happens) with a scar that started in the small of his back and ran continuously up his spine, over his left shoulder and down the front to his waist. Someone asked how he got it and he just said "In an autopsy". :blink:

I should write a book.....

I've only just started out on all the silliness - Was thrown into an underground pond with no bottom, or at any rate not a bottom I could find :o

To be more clear on the matter it was a caving trip, and this was apparently just a quick fun short cut out of the system :)

Can somebody please mail me with the location of the adit featured on the bear grylls program? The exit on the those iron pegs at the end looks very exciting! We are set to visit Cym at the end of this month but i understand that the adit featured is separate from the areas requiring the £20 key deposit (which i will also be seeking to obtain)

It's on top of the floor 5 tip (the big tip directly above the main adit). There are several adits up there but that one is one on its own at the far end of the tip (furthest away from town).

It's really not that exciting. the climb is very easy, but the bottom 6m needs a ladder. You could possibly freeclimb it, maybe.

Personally I wouldn't bother and just go in the main mine, it's a billion times more exciting.
