This week we're hoping to look into a stope or two at BrynFelin copper mine near Beddgelert. :)
SRT kit would be a good idea, or just a camera and some midge repellant if you prefer to stay on the surface. :o

Everyone welcome.
Meet at 6:15pm around here:

10mm will be fine. Are they stainless?

Here's a useful tip to remember when installing bolts:

....don't forget the drill!! :-[

Sorry I can't be there but I promise to be out next Thursday!! :flowers:

Petzl Coeur Goujon ... Sounds like something yummy that might go with a light Belgium Beer!
Stainless Steel: Yes.

Re drill; was going to use my head before coming to that conclusion

Another cool trip to Bryn y Felin.
The stope with the fridge..And a bit more:. Nothing quite like abseiling into someones dustbin. The feeling of being possibly the first one in there since Steptoe filled me with a sense of true privilege. I am soooooo blessed.
Hats off to the "Dumpee" who managed with great effort to lug such a huge amount of crap that far and to fling it into into a bit of heritage.. Well done indeed
Sorry Pingu. Maybe one day I'll go back for that special toilet seat!!!

Coming up for air... The fridge etc. area is east if the tricky end of the stope? Or did you drop to both sides of what looks like β€˜access’ each side?

Er No!. Just the fridge side. It's a shame as below the fridge the stope bears off under the pack wall, it goes back on itself at about forty degrees towards Beddgelert. What looks as though it may have been a large tunnel veers off towards the deep shaft. Unfortunately it's so full of pointy bits of old junk it would've taken ages to navigate a safe path. Taking into account the size of the "funnel" and how high the debris is jambed, (as far as I could make out, to the roof,) it probably wouldn't be a good idea to venture further than I did, and there was no way I was getting off the rope.. It wasn't just a bit of rubbish, it was a proper landfill attempt. Also time was getting on a bit. The other side of the pack wall goes to the flooded winze you saw.
Hope all that waffling made sense; it did to me...

Actually: I think we've done them all.
The top stope we did on Thursday night; the tunnel goes nowhere. However the stope itself goes down further. At a guess about fifty feet. We didn't drop it though as Willy did some gardening with big bangy noises a plenty.
The stope/shaft on the Beddgelert side of the deep walled shaft, that we did needs another mooch as there's an interesting passage that we can't reach without some sort of laddery rigging attempt.
There you go, if you're not confused now, I am...
Maybe next week???

There's certainly scope to drop further where I did the gardening but it needs a few days to settle. It sounded as if it went down a very long way. But I'd be inclined to start with a section of stope reached by short, westward passage below. It needs bolting and was also pretty deep.

Ok... I need some orientation here. You were at the west end of the stope where the large tree trunks are perched on each side and what look to be tunnels one leading SW and the other NW?... and oblivion inbetween?

Rear seam, western end, holly bush. Looking down we thought there was a passage heading west towards a blocked adit. There isn't. However there is a passage heading back into the hill for around 50m to a dead end. This had a fairly recent looking wellie print in it.
There's a decent ledge to group upon while deciding the next move.
If it's a dry evening, I suggest a return next Thursday.

Got it. Better planning this week will hopefully avoid being the wrong side of N.Wales without kit at 5pm on a Thurs!

Greetings from sunny Southport ??

I am contractually obliged to attend this Thursday as I have been so unreliable recently ;)
I'm happy to go with the majority vote but it would be good to finish it off.
See you all on Thursday....somewhere! πŸ˜‰
