How is one supposed to initiate such things?

I endeavour to give my best effort, which is provided subsequently.

Following a discussion conducted this evening (adjacent to the sea), I am permitted to share the following information, apparently for the purposes of involving a motley crew and dissuading anyone thinking of swimming within the very hills of the Festiniog area.

The scheme comprises the following elements:
- Llanberis
- An copper mine
- Ropework involved
- 6.15pm
- 53.107429 N / 4.095862 W

It might have been helpful if I had mentioned that the grid ref was for the lay-by off the A4086 between Llanberis and Nant Peris, at the 'top' end of Llyn Peris?

Evening all. I can't be there myself as I'm stuck capping a shaft in the Peak District for another day but I've just prompted Matt to upload a description of the trip here asap.
Apologies for those of you who already know the mine but.... It's a place for small teams of careful people. Large groups will mean people stood on false floors with others under them on pitches. Lovely trip but bear that in mind. Not a solid floor in the whole place.
Rigging needs to be done with some thought to avoid rope rub and the occasional feet on wall approach will deal with the rest.
I really hope you enjoy the trip. Matt is on the road right now but just had a message saying he may be up for joining you tomorrow.

Not seen the sun for months. Now evolving to see in the dark.

It's entirely vertical apart from the wading bits and 45deg hill climb to get there. Selling it aren't I.

I totally agree, best with a small team and it needs a full day. We used 32 hangers (10 mm) plus loads of other gear to get to the bottom of the eastern workings.

Just a short recce this evening then?

I believe the Chief only has a pared-down SRT kit, so it's not going to be a trip to the bottom and back again - and I could do with being home at a sensible hour.

Hi Matt

Looks like it's only a couple of us this evening (the others have all opted for something else!), so it'll just be a brief reccee, and it might get called off at short notice so wouldn't want to inconvenience you if it does!

However vey keen to take you up on that offer of a trip there one day :thumbsup:

Okies, ive just uploaded a description to go alongside the rigging topo and survey. Enjoy tonight if you do get down - the level off the bottom of the second pitch is well worth a visit as a short trip, some lovely copper staining and nice wall of deads to photograph...
