Do you mean Minllyn? I assume you can dive it don't think anyone has done it, at least I've not heard of anyone.

I've never been but I imagine its probably a standard steep walk up. Looks it on the maps anyway.

There is a vid on you tube but cant find out where it is in Wales, when you say steep walk any idea of distance as we did upper dinas last week down south wales and that was a mother getting all our gear up there.

If google maps terrain can be trusted, and depending on how high up you can get without upsetting people, you have to go 150 meters up.

I'm sure someone who has been and knows the area better will be able to chime in better than me.

It's a sweaty walk up the incline or a long meandering walk through the lower quarry.

It's an interesting enough spot, particularly the upper quarries but not ideal if you don't want to carry kit.

Have no idea whether there are any sneaky forestry tracks you could get a 4wd up or such like, a local might know better.

You can park conveniently where the footpath to the site joins the forestry track. Then it is a short(ish!) but steep track straight to the site.

I would think it would be an interesting place to dive.

Chris.

Anyone know how deep down that chamber goes? Or if there are other levels off it? I cant seem to find much out about it.

I think it was pumped so applying some very dodgy logic I'd guess its not very extensive at all if they didn't see fit to drive an adit.

Some more info (and piccies) here;

It is indeed a steep walk up (unless you can park closer as suggested).

🙂

I suppose that one way of looking at it would be that whilst its a steep climb up to the quarry, once your underground there's almost no carry worth mentioning , the lake s pretty much the first thing you get to.

Cambrian has two (3?) dive-able chambers and you can certainly park much closer with no up hill slog.

Not being a diver, I don't know what is down there except that Cambrian does seem to attract more attention.

With a live otter in it I seem to recall, which was a first for underground

Was it a Blind Cave Otter?

Is that a euphemism for something ?
;D

No it was just a plain otter.
The water ran out of the lake and a short distance down the adit to daylight.

We have dived Cambrian quite a few times the main bit is the best with a max depth of 27m, we also dived the bit up the road that is a short walk and down a ladder that we took however this is very unstable underwater with a lot of debris falling on us even with re-breathers ! 😢

Yeah, the first diver in there mentioned it. Lots of delamination and silt kicking up. Didn't seem overly worried if he had a guide line though... *shrug*, I know nothing about diving.
