The Royal Commission are looking for information on the Mather of Manchester vertical engine which was formerly in Pen-y-Bryn Slate Quarry, Nantlle.

Pen-y-Bryn is one of the sites selected to be recreated though Computer Animation, and as such we would also like to recreate the engine in situ.

I've already contacted Dafydd Roberts at the National Slate Museum to arrange a visit to see the engine in storage in Llanberis, but any information, plans, section, photographs would be appreciated. Please e-mail [email protected]

I assume Mather later became Mather and Platt ?

Yes they did. I'm aware of the drawings Falcon Hildred did of the engine, but I'm hoping that there is other information available.

Disclaimer: Mine exploring can be quite dangerous, but then again it can be alright, it all depends on the weather. Please read the proper disclaimer.
