I’ve got my copy of Lewis and Denton open in front of me. The edition I have is the 3rd Impression 1993. (ISBN 0 9522979 0 6). What, if any, are the differences between this and the original?

I think it’s a terrific book, by the way.

Be very surprised if it doesn't sell...worth every penny I reckon, it's a classic and I'll bet the authors never got very much for writing it...not that they'll benefit from this of course, more's the pity. Yes, I've got a copy too, and I treasure it.
If the phone didn''t ring, it was probably me.

I'm guessing that's the Adit Publications version ? If I remember rightly, all the plans etc. were mono only in that edition. In the original some aspects were in red. (See the uploads on the Rhosydd pages).

I still have my original - and that was really what kick-started me in all this....

There were 3 impressions of this book. The first and second were published by the Cottage Press in 1974 and 1975. The third impression, which was a facsimile reproduction of the original, with a new cover, was published by Adit in 1994. All impressions had coloured plans. The original publisher prices of the first and third impressions were £2.00 and £9.95 respectively.

Thanks for the correction Jon - don't know why I thought the maps in the Adit Publications impression were in mono.

Me too – it was a copy of this (the 1994 impression) that helped to get me (as a caver) interested in quarrying and mining history and exploration back in 1995.

It was gratifying to make the acquaintance of Michael Lewis some years later and be able to say how much I had enjoyed the book and how useful it had been to me.

I look forward to reading it 🙂
