Cracking pic as I think the number of votes testifies - very much an underground American Gothic http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_Gothic  - but surely Simon & Briony weren't the only two to go ahead with the Victorian theme?

Bless yes they were the only bold enough ones to turn up in full garb and a credit to them both, It took me ages to take the photos to which im very sorry for there long wait (they were both stood there for around 20mins) but i think it was worth it in the end. The only thing letting it down is the lamp isnt period .. would have loved to have an authentic lamp instead. πŸ˜‰

The million candle power lamp for photography might have been a bit bulky for underground use!

I still reckon it was well worth the time taken, it's a superb effort, the two models look so convincing too. :flowers:

I was hoping to have a go at old fashioned photographic illumination, magnisium ribbon and maybe thermite (sparklers).
Light thinks it travels faster than anything but it is wrong. No matter how fast light travels, it finds the darkness has always got there first, and is waiting for it.

I've used flash powder for light underground (aluminum powder and potassium perchlorate) and it gives stupendous illumination !

All excellent photos!

One thing I thought spoilt the view of all the miners in shot was the fact that all the others left their modern helmets and lamps on in the photo. I am sure they could have been removed briefly for the photos? Except for Hymac's which was made to look like a bowler of course.

Thanks John ..there wasn't any real attempt with any of the other photos except for Simon on the rock face the caban pics were me just playing with the camera it wasn't an attempt to get anything good.

Cheers M

Very nice pics. πŸ™‚ Think the shiny lanterns could have benefited from a spray of matt black.
