Well JR you are right there .... what a wonderful contraption.... I could play all day on stuff like that.... If I had my way we'd have a Scrapyard challenge series on tv devoted to building this sort of stuff

Did you get any photos of the battery loco? I read about it in the local paper, but didn't make it down to Llanberis to see it 😞

Nice video of the Ruston and the BE moving under their own power. Shame the guy driving the Ruston doesn't know how to drive it! In fact he is doing the two things you shouldn't do when driving one! Namely, presetting the throttle at too higher revs and driving it with the (speed) gear lever half in!

Those early Lister engined Rustons had very slow revving engines anyway, much slower than the later Ruston made engines. The Listers ran at 600 rpm (later up rated to 720 rpm).

Incidently, it is a 18/21hp class not a 21DL. The DL classes were introduced quite a bit later.

Great to see the photos and video clips of all these machines working. I would have loved to see the motor bike loco running as I admire the results of people that are able to adapt and improvise machinery for different work.
I missed it all as I was stuck under the bonnet of a car over the weekend, and I had not read the local paper advertising the event. There might be another similar event soon.
There was an improvised loco at llechwedd floor 5 at one time powered by a 1930's Morris Oxford car engine/gearbox and bulkhead which i thought was a brilliant machine.
The last I heard of it was that it was standing somewhere at 'Quarry Tours'.

Bellach dim ond swn y gwynt yn chwibian, lle bu gynt yr engan ar cynion yn tincian.

Disclaimer: Mine exploring can be quite dangerous, but then again it can be alright, it all depends on the weather. Please read the proper disclaimer.
