I know Cwm Bychan was a relatively small operation, but has anybody explored any of the adits? At the top to the right hand side of the aerial ropeway (looking up towards Moel y Dyniewyd) is a very small one which I presume is a trial. On the opposite side is this:

Went by today, but not in mine exploration mode and with a lack of desire to walk five miles with wet feet so didn't look in 😉 Is there anything to see in there?

Further down, and again on the left hand side looking up the aerial ropeway was another wet adit, but my camera battery had expired by then...

Yeah have had a look in a few adits around there, including what I presume to be the main adit in the photo's
It only goes about 60-70m at most, leading to a worked out stope which breaks through to daylight. This stope can also be reached by a path to the left of the adit which goes pass a ruined building, purpose unknown. near the stope a sign says 'danger beware mine shafts'. You can then walk along a narrow ledge at the top of the stope looking down into the mine.
All the adits around here seem to be trials but the area is worth a look at if you happen to be passing, it is a very beautiful spot and the ropeway and assocaited artifacts scatterd around make it an interesting few hours.
hope that helps a bit.

Disclaimer: Mine exploring can be quite dangerous, but then again it can be alright, it all depends on the weather. Please read the proper disclaimer.
