Hello Graham
I read with interest your notes about Twigg & Co and the work they did at Penryhn. Do you have any document references that support the dates you gave about the work they did. George Twigge was a captain at Penrhyn from 1851 to 1965 (there is a Penrhyn day book with the details of this time) and did a lot of the work on the water balance shafts. He came from Butterton Staffordshire where he worked at Ecton Copper Mine before moving to North Wales in the 1840's and worked for Colonel Pennant at the DOLOWEN mine as an agent. I am writing up a family history of this particular line of Twigge's so would be very interested in whatever you have that would help me.

Regarding the drainage tunnel, the original information came to me from Eric Ffoulkes - though its exact origin he didn't say. Boyd has even less to say.

Not much help, I'm afraid.

I do suspect that 1851-1965 might be a long stretch for one man - did you mean 1851-1865 by any chance ?;)
