There are loads of slate quarry photos, including some nice coloured aerial shots, on that website.

No, deliberately filled in on orders of the Mines Inspectorate.
I expect that there is someone on the site who can explain more acurately than me, so will leave it up to them.

The bottom adit was filled in when some smart arse decided he would cut the lock of the emergency exit and replace it with there own lock. The Mine owner was not happy with this and the order was given to seal the mine permanently.

What an imbasile!

Did it not cross his mind that the mine owners might notice?

A lesson for any high-minded person who thinks they can override the wishes of the rightful owner regarding access.

:offtopic:

I just had a peek at that video, strange thing, apart from a few side fold monitors I saw no PA system whatsoever.

Now I used to work in Rock 'n Roll business and know for a fact that bands need on stage side fold (so they can hear over) and MAIN PA (that's the loud B*****D that the punters get deafened with.

What was the name of the track - should be "Who's Foolin Who?", not "Nobody's fault but your own" also its a live stage recording, not a studio version.

sorry fellas, but it got my dander up and I just had to let off

They probably spent all the money on a helicopter to film and could pay any roadies to hump the gear, so made do with miming lol.
Pity they did not hover over the area to get some views that would be impossible to see from anywhere else, also on the top of the mine opposite Aberllefenni i would like to have seen how deep that hole is with the crane arm extending over the sheer drop!

That ole by the crane as I recall its about 300 feet deep.

I wouldn't have thought they needed a PA as it wasn't a "performance" just making a video?

There are one or two other places that would be good to see from above too!

Like Dinorwig :D

Llechwedd, MO and Foty/Bowydd would be good from above too, I get confused which tips belong to which etc

Llechwedd/Maen Offeren/Votty tips are not too difficult, it is deciding Votty/Diphwys that I struggle with!

I'll only throw a little slab in this one - (nothing to do with Aberllefenni) that the boundary between Votty & Bowydd and Diffwys :
1. Went diagonally across the crater where the Tuxford Incline was..
2. Some (long vanished) open floors had one end in Votty and the other in Diffwys....
3. The boundary was "adjusted" on several occasions....
4. Votty built Tuxford (both versions) on and over Diffwys floors by wayleave....
5. Votty tipping was carried on to the south-east of the Diffwys tips from Tuxford by wayleave tramways...

Yes... 🙂 that'll do for now.....
