Thanks for the photos Dickie.
Anyway your picture as I mentioned before:

From memory. I believe that the pile of deads where the figure is sitting is a collapsed stull. At time of my visits in the early 1990s before the run in of 92 the remains of the shaft timbering shown had all gone, hardly surprising. Now behind the figure you could climb up and reach a chamber with a stone lined shaft going down about 20 feet. I put a scaffold tube over it and dropped it to a continuation of the level in absolutely atrocious condition. Crawling under hanging death I reached a large stope with three layers of platforms going up to a great height.
Now back in the stope shown in the photograph there was a tightish climb up through ascending workings that went and went. I can remember it being very hot and stuffy up there and the way up was through ascending deadwork.
From memory this was left of the shaft.
The place was a rabbit warren with a lot to discover, was in Easter 1992 doing serious mooching, went back May holiday to find game over.
A bit more. I remember a flooded shaft with floating rubbish on the right. What i understand to be Turnavore Shaft was a flooded shaft with a level extending beyond with impressive roof timbers supporting deadwork. This way was a dead end.
I don’t 'do' small boats anymore, I do swimming in wetsuits.
Anyway, I vaguely remember a level to the left here, was this one with the improvised dressing machinery?
My avatar is a poor likeness.
