A friend came across this photo but unfortunately the location is unknown. We did wonder whether it was the Carn Brea granite quarry. I know it's an extreme longshot but any ideas would br gratefully received.

I would have guessed that they were digging a road or a railway cutting.

I think its surface mineral workings as I think this may be one of a number of pics.... I will look as I think I have this set somewhere. 🙂

Edit -Great Treveddoe mine perhaps or even the St.Erth alluvial workings.... my first guess????

I did wonder if it was when they extended the Basset Tramway to Marriott's Shaft.
