Found these pictures tonight that I took way back at the St.Austell Golf Club showing the re-use of Taylors Shaft for lifting water for use in keeping the greens green.

They have built a bridge thru Taylors engine house across the shaft and pump water directly out of the old mine into an old boiler from where it is used to irrigate the greens, they are still doing this today. Seems a good idea to me for re-using an old mine.

Who were the guys and what were they up to? it looks like ropes on the bridge in one shot and an electron ladder in the shot down the shaft. Wouldn't mind a dangle down there myself 🙂

I turned up on one of my walks and it appeared the pumps had packed in.... They were there repairing it!

I live very close to great polgooth mine but have only ever been in to polgooth mine. I would be interested in a look around at some point if anyone is interested.

Adit is at 42 Fathoms and there is a crosscut from the shaft, this is all which remains above water.....

I doubt they are pumping from that depth.......

Dines is unclear about what stoping was done on the main lode. There are other lodes though. 42F of electron ladder would take some pretty big testes, if you ask me!

When I was there you could clearly see the water in the shaft and it was def NOT 42F away! 🙂
