Has this interesting collection been mentioned here before?

I like the "Farmer reopens Cornish Tin Mine" film from 1947!

Truly fantastic resource.

The last shift sequences are particularly bleak.

Well done WUM for bringing tin mining back.

How true is the quote in one of the clips from the 1960's: -

"Britain has the best developed negative attitude to mineral development anywhere in Europe"

When you look at the clips of Croftys closure, its amazing how many people have forgotten how raw the feelings were back then.

I really hope once the planning permission is granted and construction on surface starts, one of the tv companies will produce a documentary which will follow he reopening process.

There were two documentaries at the time of closure, boom to bust and between a rock and a hard place, which caught the atmosphere well at the time, to see thee reverse would be fantastic.

Did they support that with any evidence? I find the BBC often have their own agenda. I agree with your other sentiments.
The past is a foreign country: they do things differently there.

The BBC will say what they're told to say by their finance-backers the Government. Remember the Government own the BBC and it is illegal for one company to monopolise regarding the TV licences - European law, and if I'm correct we are part of Europe. TM

That staement came from a Mining Investor in gthe 1960's looking at it objectively, who thinks the statement is incorrect? it certainly true today

Disclaimer: Mine exploring can be quite dangerous, but then again it can be alright, it all depends on the weather. Please read the proper disclaimer.
