Over many years, I have visited just a couple of the mines, namely; FACIT(Britannia)MINE, Whitworth(Twice) and more recently, SCOUT MOOR MINE, Rawtenstall. I noted recently on 'Adit Now' the small, Longbank Sandstone Mine, Rawtenstall.
I have heard of the Great Heights Stone Mine, Cowpe Lowe, but not visited. I have also seen a picture, titled 'Stone mines at Crutchman Quarry, the obvious entrance is locally nicknamed Gamblers Caves' on 'Valley of Stone' website.
Any information on 'Great Heights' & 'Crutchman Quarry' appreciated and on any other flagstone mines in this area.
Many thanks,
Spires.

Thanks Morrisey for your reply. Not heard of that mine before and after looking at pictures, worth a visit.
