I'm tracing my family and believe that my great grandfather, Joseph Wheatley was an engine driver here, as was his son, my grandfather, Albert Wheatley (born 1891c). I would love to know more about them and their working lives.

I am a lead mining historian but as no coal mining historians seem to be taking up this thread, I shall try to help.
There are oddments about the Wheatley family of Ilkeston and Cossall coal miners on the online newspaper databases such as British Newspapers Online and Nineteenth Century Newspapers.
If you have not seen these, they would be worth checking out.
