this brings memories back when i was 11 years old and goin down our street to see the miners coming up at the end of a long shift 🙂 ...

Don't forget one of the winding houses and some of the surface buildings still exist 🙂

I went in a mine once.... it was dark and scary..... full of weirdos

Yes we have one full winding house for a start ... See the archive pics... Great to hear from you... 🙂 infect I have a suspicion that half the other modern winder house survived... Modified fir industrial use.... I feel a trip comin on! 🙂

I knew there was an industrial estate there, although often and if the estate is old enough some of the buildings usually survive. A few more remains in the area to photograph

I went in a mine once.... it was dark and scary..... full of weirdos

When do I get my soapbox, I need to rant on about some b***cks

Went a good while ago and most of the office type stuff survives but I was in a headlong rush as usual so prob missed a few bits..... Gatehouse there I think... I did a quick google earth survey versus maps n I reckon there is more than meets the eye

Excellent news, and it wouldn't involve wading through vasts amounts of weeds etc to see it!

Just had a quick look on google street view and there are at least three buildings surviving. Definatley worth a visit

Only did it quick by car so if you want as its nice at night lets walk it and see what is exactly there... its not not like we dont av sufficient maps of the area!!! :lol:

My thoughts exactly and I could do with another look at some others now the light is around for longer hours. I was thinking of another look at Kirkby or something similiar, but that's on the other side of the Motorway and I can do that anytime
