I am new to exploration of mines and recently found Church Mine North. I would love to explore this mine but have no experience so if anyone would be willing to show me around I'd be most grateful. I only live 10mins walk from the entrance so arranging a date and time should be fairly easy. I've lived here for over 25yrs and never knew this mine existed, although rumours abound of old mine workings all over this area. I realise from checking sites such as this one that there are a few around. This is what peeked my curiosity to go and look for the Church Mine North entrance.

HI Rusty dog,

Me and my mate have only just started mine exploration too. We live in Thrapson. We went down Church mine Nth last weekend for hours. I see you have your kids with you. You don't really want to be taking them in ther especially if you don't have hard hats, lights, rope, etc. Try also Church Mine south Slipton. Near Samuel Peyps pub.

Hi Phooker,
Likewise only just got interested and haven't been in any mines yet. I wont go in without someone with experience, I ain't ready to meet my maker just yet. Call me yellow but I call it sense. As for the kids, they just wanted to see the entrance and no way are they going in with or without helmets etc. (at least not until they are old enough to fully appreciate the dangers and make up their own minds). They will have to make do with pictures till then.
Regards Steve

Disclaimer: Mine exploring can be quite dangerous, but then again it can be alright, it all depends on the weather. Please read the proper disclaimer.
