Does anyone know the history of the quarry in the fields between the villages of Chelveston, Higham Ferrers and Stanwick? Locally it is thought limestone was dug out of there, but nobody seems to know for sure. Has anyone got old photos of it in use either. ::)

Thanks for the link Morlock. The second link fully answered my question. We know the quarry as 'Stanwick Cliffs' locally. In fact not many people know they exist at all !
When you walk over the fields, you suddenly come to a cliff edge, which you could easily fall over if you were not looking where you were going. They certainly do take you by supprise! 😮

Disclaimer: Mine exploring can be quite dangerous, but then again it can be alright, it all depends on the weather. Please read the proper disclaimer.
