Danby Level Lead Mine

We liked the sense of being in an abandoned mine; a few artifacts in the foreground, and the very fine stone arching. We also liked the superb lighting, it would have been an easy photograph to burn out, but the lighting is consistent and effective.

Glen Sannox Barytes mine on Arran was a solo explore that I needs a revisit as there's plenty more to see. Some parts that need swimming/a boat to access. A place that I love as its in among the wild mountains.

There were some stunning images in this year's competition. Judging is always hard. I really hope everybody likes the winning photos. We did!

A quick word on voting; all admins (5) voted, independently their 1st, 2nd and 3rd; with 3, 2 and 1 points being awarded respectively. To ensure fairness all round a guest voter added a sixth set of votes this year. The total of these points gives the final positioning.

Its good to see Scotland represented here. Our mines are not necessarily the most well known, extensive or expansive but we do have awesome scenery, such as the mine in Glen Sannox on Arran.
There are still mines to be discovered & when we do the photos will be posted here
