Hi all,

I'm a long time lurker but have only just come out so to speak ;D

Anyway I'm originally a caver who lives in Ingleton, I have been down a fair few mines over th eyears but more recentlly have the urge to explore more of them with like minded people.

I'm free most weekends and some weekdays but just need people to go with.

are there any like minded explorers in the area or nearby etc?

Hi Pete, welcome to the site.

Considering that you live in one of the centres of the world insofar as holes in the ground are concerned, you live in a fairly rubbish place for mine-exploring! ::)

There are a few on here from the Swaledale/Wensleydale areas who pop up every now and then otherwise I'm not really sure what else is about. A few groups of us are active in the Cleveland/North York Moors part of Yorkshire but half of the Lakes, the Peak & Wales are probably more convenient for you out there!

Pete, Welcome to the forum. I'm heading over to Wales on Sunday for a look around Cwmorthin Mine. I'm picking some friends up in Bradford at around 6am you could join us if you like. Were mainly hoping to try the new zip lines that Miles has installed but there's still plenty to see.

we are going in wet grooves on Thursday night, above carperby, theres a couple of lads that drive from bentham everyweek,if your interested I can ask if they will pick you up? otherwise we will meet outside woodhall garage at 7.30pm,thats on the road between askrigg and carperby, very good mine well worth a visit with an all in all 200ft spiral and a blue lagoon at the bottom, then back to the pub in askrigg for a pint a good banter with a great set of lads:)
