Hello, Ive recently moved to North/Mid Wales. Ive done quite a bit of caving in the past and would love to get out exploring some of the local mines around the area.
If I could meet up with people who know the local area that would be great.
Thanks Jen

Welcome to AN!

Best bet would be to tag along on one oft he Thursday Nighter trips, which are - er - on Thursdays! 😮

Keep an eye on the forum, but there's usually one every week with its own thread.

Otherwise, there are often people out and about at weekends; and occasionally we do more organised trips (ie we think about it a few weeks in advance) - again, keep an eye on the forum.
Hello again darkness, my old friend...

Hello and welcome!
There's always the Thursday nighters! We're usually not far from Blaenau Ffestiniog and we're a nice bunch. Honest! 😉
Keep an eye out for next weeks Thursday nighter, not 100% on what we're doing yet, the executives are still in meeting about it.

The only thing that springs to my mind is cwt y bugail, but that's quite a distance for you to drive in a short space of time. And I don't know what the walk to it is like ;D
I'm out of suggestions for that side of the world now

Cwt y Bugail is ok for me, I could be in Blaenau by 1800 ish. The walk is not too bad, although that tramway is hard work when it's raining sideways  The forecast for Thursday is actually very good
Any more thoughts anyone? Any more votes for Cwt y Bugail?
Hope I can remember how to find the adit! Drop into the pit and double back to the right I think?

If you are further over to the East of N.Wales (Wrexham/Mold etc), UCET are out most Thursday nights too, and have longer/more involved trips at the weekend.

Cwt y bugail has been on my to do list for a while, and I feel like i haven't been out on a Thursday forever!

There are going to be more UCET weekday daytime trips now too, for those of us lucky enough to work every weekend...

There are more underground workings on the other (north) side of the twll that are worth a quick look – though if you want to see the full extent of them it involves above-wellie-depth water.

Also, if you don't mind getting wet (or if you are already wet), the underground working at Blaen Cwm can be visited on the way back – no more than an extra half hour needed.

Thank you. I will look out for the Thursday nighters and hopefully join you all soon. Unfortunately its a Halloween work social this week so would be rude to miss it, being new and all. 😉
