Hi all,

New to the area and new to the forum - based in Wensley nr Matlock but soon to be Wirksworth. Just starting out with an interest in mining and caving. Exploring all the different avenues and alleyways so to speak.

Trying to find out about lords and ladies mine in northern dale near wensley at the moment. Been searching for a copy of the pdmhs bulletin 16:3 to no avail - anyone on here got one for sale?

Hope to speak to people soon!

Get yourself a copy of "Caves of the Peak District", Then go to the Derbyshire Caving association (DCA) website and follow the links to the "Access and Rigging Guide", these will give you all the information needed to get underground in your area. After that the members of these forum's (or is it fora?) will know, and offer you further information.

Otherwise, PM me.
Always remember, nature is in charge, get it wrong and it is you who suffers!.

I never thought to mention it when you asked on ME, but there's also Jim Rieuwerts' four-volume magnum opus "Lead Mining in the Peak District", the history of the Northern Dale mines is covered in volume 3. Caves of the Peak District has a reproduction of a survey of Old Ash, but nowhere near as detailed and informative as the one done by John and Terry for the bulletin. However, photocopying at the local studies library is inexpensive.....

Hi,
Where do you live in Wensley.
I have the workshop and I am a caver. Call in and see me.
