hi Jim,
This is a pretty old photo.
When I first met your Dad, John McNeil quizzed him about the mine.
As I knew nothing about the Skears, it meant little to me, then, but this comment shows your Dad had been there probably, over 40 years ago!
The Dales lead mining group, took the mine over, for many years, and refurbished the entrance, hence your problems with identifying it!

Hi John,

Not surprisingly most of Dad's photos are bit on the old side and this (it was photo of the month some time ago! - fame for the old curmudgeon) was from near the beginnings of our meanderings in the late 60's and early 70's, however I'm continuing working through them and some of Harry Parker's and now a few of Cyril McChesney's (good stuff from Silverband Mine opencut amongst others) as well.

What's rather pleasing is the help you and a good number of other people on AditNow have given to clarify when and where many of them were taken and added useful bits of other information on the way. One or two people have also realised it's not a bad thing to annotate photos as they arise as some of the detail is soon forgotten.

Regards

Jim
