Hello everyone 🙂

I am based in Newcastle and I am wanting to go exploring underground in the nearby mines. I have been to visit one a mine at Stanhopeburn but found the entrance to have collapsed.

But onwards and upwards, I am thinking of visiting Nenthead for my first glimpse underground. I have lots of family ties with the mines (all coal) and my uncle gave me his mining lamp hence my wanting to venture underground and see what the conditions are like down there.

Thanks

Graham

Hi Graham,
you may find "onwards and downwards works slightly better for exploring mines! :smartass:

Watch out for trips on the events & meets page. We seem to be in the Nenthead area a couple of times a year or so, otherwise you could always join us in north wales or derbyshire!

Welcome Graham, I believe we've already spoke? Lol.

I should be driving again soon-ish so I'll be knocking about Weardale again over the summer, I'll give you a shout when I do
