The coin and coal is probably legit as coal has been recovered from the wreck and is the only artifact that can legally be sold.

Apparently one of only 25,000 😮
http://hubpages.com/hub/Titanic-100th-Anniversary-Coal-Coin  and http://www.titanicuniverse.com/titanic-coal-coin

Looks like you can still get em for about 20-30 quid here http://cgi.ebay.com/RMS-TITANIC-LIMITED-EDITION-COMMEMORATIVE-COAL-COIN-/170577817488

Now where did I put that lump of 'Titanic' coal & my coin press 😉

I do not know how they can attribute the coal on the Titanic to any single colliery. At the time of here trials and sailing there was a coal strike. The White Star Line took coal from many of there ships to bunker Titanic.

Thats right i read that the strike only finished two days before the first crossing,
threatening to delay the maiden voyage
so i think they would have taken coal from anywhere !

We have checked online and there is a site that explains all the tests they do to determine where the coal came from. The certificate of authentication states where coal came from.Isn,t it amazing what can be done now.Yes there was a strike but Titanic sourcced her coal from oher ships returning to port so there was even coal from USA on her.I have No 1578 of 25,000.Apiece of history in my home.
HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU ALL.
