Sorry mate, would happily have let you have them if one of our group didn't have one too.

Only just looked at this thread.
Regarding H2S it can be made easily by adding Hydrochloric acid to any sulphide!
Galena is the obvious one, but Pyrite will do as well.
However, as has already been discussed H2S is toxic!
When you can smell it then that is about the tolerable limit.
Not sure if this helps you but it might.

Just a quick reply, you can buy calibration gas of known concentration to calibrate gas detectors for approx £80 but it does have a shelf life of approx. 6 months. A standard calibration is around £40 to £50 on most monitors so unless you have loads it would be expensive buying the gas.

If you have any questions regarding gas detection, need calibration or new sensors these guys do that and also sell ATEX head torches (won't explode methane)....

Here is a thought about gas meters.

The oxygen sensors are a PAIN. They are a continual chemical reaction (with oxygen) and the meter monitors it's progress electronically.

Between Time 1 (100% at 20.9% O2) and Time 2 (less than 1) the meter will exhaust it's oxidisable stuff and when you fire the meter up, it will not get a reading from the reaction.

So. How can I make my O2 sensor last for years?

Put it in a very small bag with some oxygen scavenger.

What oxygen scavenger do you use?

I am very ashamed to admit that I eat a lot of beef jerky and have a lot of scavengers, which I carefully store!

Disclaimer: Mine exploring can be quite dangerous, but then again it can be alright, it all depends on the weather. Please read the proper disclaimer.
