Can anyone tell me about the capping/ uncapping of the south mine shaft at Llanharry Old Mine workings. Prior to 26th July 1993 (The local Tooze murder date) the capping seems to be concrete cover incorporating two 10" vent pipes. I want to know if the concrete cap was opened up in 1993. There now (2011) seems to be an accessible vent and a 10" vent pipe, and concrete covering the 520 foot deep shaft.
Can anyone tell me the sqaure size of the access vent and when it was put in place?

Not sure about uncapping but there's a pic in the Llanharry Album from which you could probably work out the box size.

Edit: Why is the box size important, there's another pipe inside it? 😉

Disclaimer: Mine exploring can be quite dangerous, but then again it can be alright, it all depends on the weather. Please read the proper disclaimer.
