I find these gloves excellent underground. They're grippy and tight fitting so you can tell what you're doing with SRT kit or camera gear. Not waterproof but they last ages - and survive the washing machine...

in no particular order..

1) Polyco nitrile palm, knitted back. Much as you describe, but usually yellow or green

2) those yellow knitted ones with the soft webbing. Goofy looking and not the most sensitive, but durable and warm when wet

3) white knitted ones with blue dots, from Arco. Durable, snug, washable, sensitive for handling objects. Tend to split at finger ends

4) brown nitrile ones. A bit clumsy for handling small objects but very durable. Hold water so you get the 'fingers like prunes' after a while

definite no-no.. the big, stiff red or blue-green ones which don't fit and stink after a while

''the stopes soared beyond the range of our caplamps' - David Bick...... How times change .... oh, I don't know, I've still got a lamp like that.
