Hello All,
My name is matthew and I am new to this site and I would like to communicate with and recieve help and accurate instructions how to research Griffith Griffith and his connections with the Rock,Slate and,Granite in and around Penrhyn Wales in the UK. A place I know nothing about yet so help Me if you please. I am in Placer County California USA and after a career in hotels and building fire safety My interests have taken me to the geology and history of this region. Griffith Quarry in Penryn Calif. Was thought of and founded by G Griffith native of Wales in 1864 after the gold played out and the granite of this region compeled him. The batholith and plutons of granite of Placer formed a steep valley from the summit of the Sierra mountain range to the Sacramento valley. After much debate these geological resourses were the deciding factor in the construction of the transcontinental RR that was ordered constructed by congress shortly before our civl war began in 1860. Only a scant few things are readilly known about G Griffith and I think it a shame, he and his empoyed 200 men and carved out a community of poineers that deserve to be studied. Please call me in the us at 916 740 3648 if you can offer any help or advise. I have been quietly collecting artifacts from the area and I think I am going to pursue permission to conduct a small dig at the quarry where some buildings burned down in labor dispute in 1890. I am also tying to be selected as as docent for the Placer County museums but I still have 2 class sessions and a presentation to complete
to be eligible then I wont have to sneak around like a tomb robber. So please help me if you can I want to do my presentation on G Griffith and I need some new stuff badly
Thank you
Matt
