An awful lot of what we buy is made in China, for the majority the quality is amazing given the price and there is no reason that something made in China should be of any lesser quality than if it was made anywhere else in the world. I have heard of electronic equipment having the production transferred to China from the USA and the quality improving significantly.

You do need to apply a certain amount of sense, a Scurion clone selling for £20 is unlikely to have been made to the same standard. You may find, of course, that a little bit of careful modification, application of silicone grease, etc. you have something that is very close but on the other hand you may have a complete turkey - you pay the money and take your chance!

Similarly when buying LEDs from China you should expect with the low price to find that deviation of the output and colour are further from the nominal than for ones that are more expensive partly because they have gone through a closer inspection process.

Don't look so embarrassed, it's a family trait...

First MagnumStar I an unsure about, quite a few out there all going, not too bad a record as they are a bit of a 'hotrod'.

Definitely me Roy, when you posted it to me you included a letter stating it was the first production one. For a long time the letter was in the box I keep it in but it got wet a couple of years ago and had to be discarded. :(
