As Simon says, 'shameless plug' -

The latest version of the Retro 2 LED caplamp insert is now available, the RETRO XP 325 lumen. This has the exact same functionality as the old one except it has updated LED's, Cree XP-G-R5's and output.

* 4 Modes: 50, 150, 240, and 325 Lumen (A standard Oldham bulb produces 48 Lumens)
* Uses 2 x Cree XP-G-R5 LED's - one of the most efficient available
* Option of optics: 11° spot, 13°, 30°, 40° deffuser (11° spot / 13° deffuser will be like the Retro2)
* Works from 1.3 to 7.5 Volts Input
* Overheating Protection and Reverse Battery Protection
* Works with: 2, 3, 4, 5 cell NiMH / 3.7V Li-Ion / 2, 3, 4 cell Alkaline and 4, 6V SLA battery packs
* Battery Type Selection for Low Battery Warning, covers all combinations
* Will work fully on FX2 Battery Packs
* Audio Indicator for Mode, Low Battery and Over Heat
* Remembers the Last Mode Setting
* Professionally UK Designed and Manufactured with all components sourced in the UK

I used one of Mikes Retro 2s through thick and thin and it never let me down, I have never heard of one failing.

I endorse these 100%, and I am a rival lamp producer!

Seriously, its all very much horses for courses, I see a big appeal for Mikes Retro XP to owners of Speleo Technics lamps.
I recently met a group of people with these coming through from Croesor into Rhosydd, I was like being in a time warp, I don’t know how they could see where they were going.
I demonstrated my Trigon on turbo mode up the big incline, gasps of shear amazement!

My avatar is a poor likeness.

... and if it's the one that Roy sold to me second-hand some time back it's still working reliably - and runs 'forever' on a standard Oldham battery.
