i can identify a few more of the group.
In front of Eric, we have Mavis Luff, behind Eric, Bob Guthrie,David Politt, 3 ANs, then Hilda, Mike Luff, Peter Nears,3 ANs and at the far end Fred Thornton, and Axel Chatburn.
I assume that Hilda's husband John is on the photo as well, but I cannot recognise him. Also I guess John McNeil should be there as well?

Fraud I disagree, as I stated Mavis is in front of Eric , and Mike is between Peter Nears, and Hilda.
No point in a large disagreement, but I wonder why you are so emphatic that they were no Luffs in the photo.
Mike and Mavis almost always accompanied HMP on his visits North, in fact I cannot remember an exception to this.

Thoroughly agree with Les - there are no Luffs on this photo.

:lol::lol:, Ok, so its a Luff-less photo, so i'm in love with the dog--

I know this might be a bit radical but Mike and Mavis could be asked. As regards the labrador, did Bob and Jessie have an old hound, I vaguely recall some beastie at their house, though that's quite a long time ago. Another query about Scraithole, did someone unearth a large lump of galena when they moved their car at some meet, could be some more false recovered memory syndrome. Maybe an, as yet, unknown side-effect of radon? gulp!!

They were on the week but not the photo.
Having known both for 40+ years, I do recognise ( or not) a Luff!

Jim, I think the dog was Bob's.

Thanks Les,

Said dog also appears on a mugshot photo outside the cottage at Spartylea although seems much more interested in someone other than Bob.

My brother found a photo of Newburgh Level on this curious website;

http://www.urbexforums.com/showthread.php/17910-Hanging-Flat-Polystyrene-Mine

And it's same level as Harry's photo, from their comments our digging out wasn't a complete success.

Another recollection of Scraithhole was finding a tennis ball size lump of barytes which I took out as a great prize but I think someone liberated it as I got changed, as least I never saw it again.

To complete the picture I'm fairly sure the lab was called Jake and I've got some more photos above and below ground at Scraithole/Barneycraig to upload when I've finished annotating them

Disclaimer: Mine exploring can be quite dangerous, but then again it can be alright, it all depends on the weather. Please read the proper disclaimer.
