Some of you with an interest in the Mid Wales metal mines will remember Peter Jones of Newtown, who until recent years was an active mine explorer and joined in with many local digs. I'm afraid to have to let you know he died - on March 10th. He was 70. News only reached the local mine exploration community in recent days - darned COVID and its chaos. We last met up before Xmas at Cletwr (Tre'r-ddol) and he seemed his usual self then. I don't know what happened. There's already been a funeral but a celebration of his life may be planned. I've been in touch with the funeral director today to ask for any useful info. Peter will be sadly missed by us here in the Mid Wales mining district.

Disclaimer: Mine exploring can be quite dangerous, but then again it can be alright, it all depends on the weather. Please read the proper disclaimer.
