Just been walking past Great Oak Books in Llanidloes and noticed a poster in the window advertising a new book available now on mining in Mid Wales:
"Worn by Tools and Time" by Ioan Lord.

Wasn't able to find a price or have a look at it unfortunately.

It's a nice book, lots of interesting photos (some, I'm sure, taken by me!). Worth buying - I'd also recommend Ioan's first book, Rich Mountains Of Lead

What areas does it cover, as I'm mostly interested in the Llanidloes, Dylife, Van areas?

It's a broad history of metal mining in mid Wales. It has some mentions of Van and Dylife but I wouldn't say it covers them.

There is more material for those interested in Cwm Rheidol and Cwmystwyth, but it's worth having on your shelf;D

If your interested in Dylife, then Michael Browns book is a must have. But be sure its the second edition which is hardback so easily identifiable.

Here are the details of the book , my delivery will arrive on Friday its £14.99 and I will offer it post free

It is bilingual and the title is as follows

O'r Ddaear Fyddar Faith / Worn by Tools and Time
Mwyn o Ganolbarth Cymru / Ore from Mid Wales
Paperback, 168 pages

A bilingual short history of the mining industry in mid Wales and its roll in developing the metal industry in Britain, from a very visual perspective.

Mining for lead, zinc, copper and silver in Mid Wales played an important role in Britain's industrial development. Worn by Tools and Time examines the history of this ancient industry from prehistoric times to the twentieth century, contributing new information from never-before-used sources to show how the society evolved alongside the industry. Many of Mid Wales' old metal mines have recently been re-accessed, and a range of new photographs show caverns and artefacts where nobody had set foot since the departure of the last miners over a century ago.
