It's Bwlch Cwmllan isn't it?

I knew it was somewhere around Rhyd Ddu, but couldn't place it so resorted to looking at the quarries leading up towards Yr Aran. Cheating really πŸ˜‰

Yes! In the words of Alun Richards "the body of a rubbish wagon, which following the American troops exercises in 1944 might do duty as a colander!"

I suspect that Sinker knew as well, but since he didn't name the quarry it's your turn.

PS Simon, would it be possible to delete "North Pennines." from the subject?

I thought it may have been Hafod y Llan which is only about half a mile out! I knew I'd seen it somewhere

This is a slight variation on Mr Mike's original idea:flowers:

πŸ”—114232[linkphoto]114232[/linkphoto][/link]

I have no idea what is it or where it is, but a sizeable operation.

Possibly taken in the 80's as the processing plant looks newish (1970's corrugated panels?) and in use given that are there several cars visible on another pic of the same place. There is a lot of tipped waste which suggests a quarry or open-casting. Clearly a bit hilly so could be N. Wales, Lakes or Scotland, the mountain in the background would be a bit of a help for someone who has an idea. My current guess is Scotland as parents spent several summers up there in the 80's and 90's.

Looks like Strontisn, to me, Jim!
Not as it is today, but as it was when it was working, some 30years ago.

Thanks John,

Looks similar to one of Staticx' pics, without the mist, I wandered up there with wife and kids on the way to the Uists in the early 1990's but hadn't put them together.

I think SimonRL and Sinker want to get back to proper stuff:angel: ,sorry for the selfish intervention:tongue:

Not at all, a most worthwhile and interesting intervention  And all my photos are on the server at work (don’t have a computer in the house!) so I can’t upload anything until Monday.

So, over to Sinker

That is the lead mine on Moelwyn, just past the Ffestiniog Power Station. I'll look up the name.
