This untitled photograph is a significant posting!
It is a chalk mark made at a survey point by a Beaumont mine surveyor.
We first met these when we entered Greenlaws mine from the hydraulic shaft and one of them was accompanied by the date: May 91-Presumably 1891.
I have also met them in some Barneycraig workings, it would be useful if mine explorers noted where these marks are found in their explorations since it indicates there are probably plans somewhere of these areas.

Yes I have seen them in the back end of Rampgill and yes there are some plans of Greenlaws that are being used in there, however they are all the KD ones.

The Beaumont / Weardale Lead Company ones are in a private collection stored at Durham RO, but access is denied by the owner.
