Not been to Carrock tungston mine for a number of years so thought may go this week - question is, how is access these days regarding the gate on Canadian Level and any falls there-after. Any help much appreciated....

We were in earlier in the year, Just the usual "key" required. Everything was fine when we were in but a bit wet.I think we may be going tomorrow as the kids were just on about it this afternoon

Best not publicise the key spec too widely. There has been some gratuitous vandalism there recently and the landowner was rightly quite upset. And always wise to lock the gate after you as you go in. That prevents anyone without a key following you in and then you accidentally locking them in on leaving.

Did anyone visit Carrock in recent weeks ? If so was the mine gate and the mine itself in its "normal" condition ? The reason I ask is that the gate on the access track (about 200 yards before the mine gate) has recently been completely cut down and thrown to one side. We can't fathom why anyone would do this and don't know if the damage is connected to mine access or not.

We were in on 29th December. The gate on the access road was off then but the mine was as it should be.
