The mining town of Wombwell near Barnsley is the setting for the start of the beautiful and Epic screenplay 1/E written by James R Naz.
The story starts with a mining catastrophe and the first chapter can be read at the following link below the text. James apparently did his research for 1/E at the National Coal Mining Museum where staff agreed that it was fine to use Pick Axes as it showed mining at its true grittiest.
