I think it would be good if the profits went to cave rescue as they are based on donations and you never know, one day you may need rescueing.

I'd be delighted to accept a donation on behalf of the Cleveland Area Subterrainian Helpforce. Cheques payable to CASH Only please. 😉

Have PDMHS got any preservation projects on at the moment? I think they have, but i can't think what they are at the mo!

They have several, however, in my humble & personal opinion their membership affords them much more than all cave rescue organisations in the land  all of which survive on donations alone.

Someone suggested CATMHS, I feel the same sentiment as you OG.

How's CATMHS funded? sorry- i don't know much about it! my vote goes to the CRO as well- it's just a matter of which one!

I am happy to contribute photos again.

CATMHS is funded by its membership of circa 100 and from sales of publications. All donations gratefully received since digging projects are expensive.

Hi Simon, I'd be happy to offer some pics for the calendar :o

Here's an example from Arkengarthdale:

As for who to donate to, how about Yorkshire Air Ambulance or similar?

Thanks for all the feedback and support everybody

Tentatively then we have photos so far from:

Christwigg - already provided
Pringledude
JonK
Martymarty
Newstuff
Edd
J
Ditzy
Me

That's 3/4 full. Barring duplication.

Might be a nice idea if we can get a mix of photos from across teh country and a few different mines as well as the old favourites.

I'm going to try to get it finished by early September - last year's was very rushed at the end.

Is it worth putting up a poll for the good causes?

We have had several CRO's suggested, and from what has been said, both CATMHS and PDMHS appear to be reasonably well funded. So, has anyone got any other suggestions for schemes similar to Kelly Mine or Friends of Cwmorthin? I am sure I have heard mention of another one but cannot think of it now.

Right then :)

The minimum 100 print run is already half reserved :)

Van is doing a sterling effort collecting photos and we're about 9/12 of the way through this.

I've done the layout.

And so we really ought to make a decision on who the profit goes to:

Suggestions so far are:

DCRO
PDMHS
SMRT (mountain rescue that does underground stuff too)
CATHMS

I like the idea of splitting it again so people can choose who the profit from their calendar goes too (and of course I love the extra admin ).

I also think (because it's a relatively small amount of money involved - if split 50/50 about £325 each) it should go somewhere where it'll be of some use.

Shall we go with one CRO and one mining group / perservation society.

If so which ones :flowers: :flowers:

My vote is for Rescue Organisations, plural.

I think that supporting societies is fraught with difficulty (even moreso than a rescue organisation), with choosing and justifying.

Simon
a bit late but can I ask for Midlands CRO to be considered they also act as back up to covering Mid wales where the main CRO is Caver based from South Wales rather than having enough mining experience and Gloucester. Until recently were two club based but have now gone out on their own and as such are short of equipment becuase of legislation and legal requirements

The clubs obviously still provide back up but not as good as having their own. They have been doing a lot of fund raising recently but don't quite catch the eye in the areas they cover
