Right then, a bit earlier this year, because last year was an absolute mad panic of pestering people for photographs and only just getting it off to print in time...

2012 Calendar

Assuming people want one that is...

http://www.aditnow.co.uk/static/mine-exploration-calendar-2012.aspx

The page also details all moneys that have been raised to date through calendar sales - what has been raised and who is has gone to. I've always felt it's very important that this information is made available.

What would be tremendous at this stage:

1. Ideas for what to do with the profits

E.g. one group to get all profits or offer a split as in previous years

In either case which group(s) to be beneficiaries - preservation societies, cave rescue organisations, that kind of thing

2. Offers of photo submissions - same plan as previous years, month to a view with a different mine featured on each page.

Over to you :)

Sorry if it seems a bit early, but it usually takes a couple of months to get it ready, then a few weeks to print pack and post them all.

It's a fund raiser, so it's all done in my spare time (with a lot of help from Vanoord) so the sooner I start this year the more will sell and the more whoever is picked for profits to go to will benefit

I'll sort out some pictures, and take some more in the meantime. There should be some really good 'uns this year, thinking about what I've browsed through via the front page.

Searching for the ever elusive Underground Titty Bar.

I'm gonna get my suggestion for the profits in early- how about cave rescue again as they are there to help us out if things go badly wrong!

My preference would be the North Wales CRO because that does tend to dominate the underground trips the forum does (ok- i admit to an interest there, but it's still a valid point!)

I agree i think that would be a very good idea for the donation. Always good to keep Cave rescue on our side

Should it be a different cave rescue?

I'm not for a minute saying that NWCRO is out of the question, just throwing it open for debate.

Is there a benefit in giving money to existing groups* or should new ones be suggested.

How about DCRO? Not had a donation before and it covers a lot of places visited by the members 🙂

Split it between them?

Might be worth supporting a CRO and a preservation group - we've done that in the past, and it acknowledges the fact that not all folk who buy calendars are active explorers.

I think split it again, between a preservation group and a CRO. DCRO seems a good idea to me. Maybe NWCRO again the year after?

Are there any other projects similar to Kelly? I don't think it should be FoCwmO again this year though as it all went thre last year.

Have PDMHS got any preservation projects on at the moment? I think they have, but i can't think what they are at the mo!

People are regularly mine exploring in the Dales so I'd put in a suggestion for the Swaledale Mountain Rescue Team (SMRT). Despite the name they do the underground stuff as well.

Since a lot of the mines there involve quite a hike, you're just as likely to need them on the surface as underground.

What about CATHMS? Given all the stirling digging work they're doing at Tilberthwaite at the mo? Just a thought...

I'd be happy to submit pics again

I would like to offer some photos for a month again this year.

In terms of profits, a CRO / Mines Rescue. DCRO sounds a good one.

They have several, however, in my humble & personal opinion their membership affords them much more than all cave rescue organisations in the land  all of which survive on donations alone.

Someone suggested CATMHS, I feel the same sentiment as you OG.

I would agree on PDMHS, they are a relatively wealthy organisation and currently fund their own projects.
We may however need rescuing at some time though so I would go for a rescue organisation.

Disclaimer: Mine exploring can be quite dangerous, but then again it can be alright, it all depends on the weather. Please read the proper disclaimer.
