There is a fresh fall adjacent to Rampgill Shaft where stone arching has given way in the main level. There is a stress line running along the level each direction in the top of the arching where blocks have flaked, the shaft may have something to do with the ground movement responsible for this.

The fall itself is about three feet high with more to come down, no doubt about this.

I suggest a photograph being posted as a way to monitor the situation, unfortunately I didn't have my camera.

I think a bit of care in at area by visiting parties would be wise as well.

That has been waiting to come down for ages Roy. The stone work there is double skinned. Did you see what is above?

I noted the double arching.
Cant really make out whether above is backfill or bad ground

Could be fill from workings if there any directly above or shale and tuft if not - bad ground as you say. Shaft side your right in the GL, other side it is above you some 8-10m above.
