I noted on UK caving forum that Speleo Technics have ceased trading - the link to their website seems to confirm this

Speleo Technics was a bit of an institution along the years, a real shame to see this happen.

Do you or does anyone know why?

I would imagine that competition - particularly from cheap imported Chinese lamps - will have played a significant part.

This explains why they weren't at Hidden Earth this year.

Hmmm

Sad to see a British manufacturer go, although there's no clue as to whether they went under or simply decided to call it a day. 26 years is a long time to keep trading, maybe it was just time to retire?

The lamp market is very competitive though; at the high end there's at least four competing lamps alone - not including all the upgrade and retro-fit options!

The lamp instruction list left at the website seems to indicate an organised cessation of trading?

I hope thats down to retirement or similar.
There is a market for lamps, I have sold over 40 to date although its gone a bit quiet at the moment.
It would be interesting to know more.

My avatar is a poor likeness.

The end of an era - the fx2 and fx3 were pretty revoluntionary in their day, the first practical alternative to leaky lead acids. Coinciding with the move from ladders to SRT this was pretty important.

Likewise their head lamp was very much the prototype for things to come.
