Hi there,

Hoping to do the Croesor Rhosydd through trip early this week. Was just wondering if there's anyone out there who's done it recently and could give us any recent news. Have there been any new roof falls that have changed the route, or any changes to the state of the rigging on the pitches or bridges?

Any and all info very much appreciated.

Thanks,

Mark.

As far as I am aware, it's the same as it's been for a couple of years.

SimonRL was there about a month back and didn't mention any major changes.

You'll still need a dinghy for the lake where the bridge used to be; and take a decent pulley with a cord to pull it back across the zip wires.

As usual, keep well spaced apart in the first couple of chambers and keep the noise down as the roof is a bit questionable and might decide it's bored of 'hanging around'

No major changes, but from the last time I did it (last year) to this most recent time a few weeks ago:

- The 1st abseil has got some new rope protection, a thick piece of canvas sacking bolted to the rock face where before there was just a piece of plastic sheeting

- Ditto 2nd abseil, some thick black canvas sacking bolted to the rock on one of the worst rub points, the red canvas rope protector half way down looks like a tea bag though

- Final bridge has got several more ropes across it, plus a peice of steel cable over the first section now (not taught, so safety line rather than zip line). One of the two rails has fallen off (this was a good while back) but somebody has tied an intermediate support to help keep the other rail up a bit, so it doesn't bend as alarmingly as it did.

Other than that, everything as was, we were lucky in that there were boats in situ for both watery parts so we didn't need to use out boats. But remember since the ladder bridge was destroyed that you need to boat (or swim) across two sections and there might not be usable boats in either.

my orders are to sit here and watch the world go by

Fear not, I appear to have 43 inflatable boats clogging the place up...
