Hello

For A Level we do work experience, I have currently distanced myself from the idea of ancient archaeological sites (because it usually involves handing out leaflets) and thought about mines.
I'd like to know any ideas please, within the UK or Éire, that's be most appreciated.
I thought perhaps Cambourne as my father knows someone there, but I'm curious as to whether there are other options which might involve working mines around.

thanks; Linden

I take it you mean Camborne, if so try South Crofty.

I am not sure if South Crofty do work experience, as these days we in industry have to do 1/2 dozen assessments on what machinery a work exp. person can touch. Work exp mainly end up typing numbers on a PC and watching others. Another avenue maybe the historical restored sites like Geevor, where everything has been made safer for the general public and you can have contact with mining with less need for live machinery risk assessments.
...and nothing upsets us more in Camborne than putting a "u" in the spelling...that and saying "its that town near Redruth". ::)

Is it safe to come out of the bunker yet?

Hehe I've only really known the Cornish language spelling: Kammbron.

Thanks all for the replies, I shall definatly look into S Crofty and Boulby, Boulby being the nearer one to me

There is almost certain to be some archaeology digs in the North Pennines this year on mine sites - keep an eye on the North Pennines AONB website.

r.e. your footer. I'm welsh and saw some familiar-ish words - so let's have a go...

... did.. .greater... carefull... worried.. welcomed... said...then it get's a bit tricky. Were any of the words in the right ball park ? I guess the syrch and syrchei were different tenses of the same word ?

Robin
