I did see a Chinese miners lamp on the market recently, a new product, and I checked the compliance codes they published and they were superceded a few years ago.
So yes, they do print anything they like on them.

The notion that these Chinese manufactured intrinsically safe lamps comply with or are tested to the same standards as the Oldham DL16 is pretty far fetched.
Some of them are perfectly reasonable lamps, just not made to the standard advertised.

quite so.

my Chinese lamp is perfectly ok for a middle-aged surveyor and sometime caver to have in the jeep for site visits and occasional trips, and it seemed to stand up to a wetting in Spinney Level ( which is seriously wet, whatever ttxela might say on the subject :tongue: ), but I don't see it taking the sort of stick my Oldhams lamps have in the past.

given the relative price, the conclusion has to be that the Oldham is better value if you use it enough
