Newcastle University are researching the metal content of mine water and have sampling equipment in the outflow from Caplecleugh Low level at Nenthead, Cumbria. You can read more details at www.npht.com/news.
I am told that the law on remediation of rivers affected by mine water discharges is driving research into how to remove the pollutants.
The same research team have also been involved with research in the Rheidol valley.
I am wondering what the long term consequences of this might be for mine exploration.........
