Hi, could anyone suggest the best way to transfer 35mm slides to digital imagary suitable for inclusion on this site, I, possibly like others of my age group took many slides in the 60's, 70's etc. Using film of dubious colour rendition (anyone remember Prinzcolor?) ASA ratings as low as 25, needed a searchlight to illuminate a small area! Even tried the stage flash powder, could hardly find my way out after using it! Enough rambling, any help appreciated, thank you, Redwinch

I'm sure there are people here who are expert at this. You could buy a slide scanner or use this novel method.

I suppose what I should have said is which are the best (worst) scanners based on experience, I've seen the toilet tube taped on to the digi camera, pointed at the sun, etc,

I also have an Epson Perfection V350 Photo scanner & confirm that they are very good and reasonably priced too. I use paint shop pro for any modifications, trimming etc. :thumbup:

One of the problem with slides is that they are mounted in a holder which holds the slide off the platten, out of the exact point of focus.
Without spending serious money or unmounting the film there's little that can be done about this.
I use an Epson 2400 Photo.
It's a slow job! You need to be meticulous and clean!! Dust and dirt are the main enemies.
I've had Fujichrome stripped scanned at processing and the results were a waste of time.
I scan to TIFF as it's robust and survives being messed about with, unlike JPEG (Anybody seen JPEG2 or the medical version?)
